Lotto Winners Will Be ‘Sensible’

From Staff And Wire Reports

A box of chocolates was all D.S. Taylor had ever won. Then came the $5 million Lotto prize.

Taylor, 49, was the lone winner in Wednesday’s Lotto drawing, the Washington State Lottery said Friday.

The Issaquah woman called her Lotto ticket “the best investment of my life.”

She and her husband, who both work for an engineering firm, say they plan to help their friends and buy a new car and house.

“We are going to be deadly boring and ever so sensible,” Taylor said.

Taylor said she is trying to decide whether to keep her job. “We will talk, think and not get carried away,” she said.

“We don’t have a lot of money, so this is nice,” Taylor said. “Now we can do some of the things we have always wanted to do.”

Taylor won the box of chocolates when she was 8 years old. But not having much of a sweet tooth, she gave the prize away, she said.

There were no big winners in Saturday’s Lotto jackpot of $1 million, so it grows to $2 million for Wednesday’s drawing, spokesman Richard Paulson said.
