Potential Candidates Face Oct. 10 Deadline

From Staff Reports

Aspiring mayors and city council members have until Oct. 10 to throw their hats into the political ring.

Nearly every city in North Idaho has at least one official up for election Nov. 7. In a few cities, such as Chatcolet and Harrison, the mayor and entire council are up for election.

Challengers, who must be registered voters and live within city limits, can pick up petitions of nomination at their local city hall. Depending on population, the petitions require the signature of 3 to 40 registered voters.

Deadline for petitions, which are free, is Oct. 10 at 5 p.m. , DataTimes
