Mother, Son Found Dead In Home

From Staff Reports

Spokane police released few details Saturday on what they said appeared to be a murder-suicide in a quiet North Side neighborhood.

Police received a call at 9 a.m. Saturday asking them to check on the welfare of Patricia C. Lorenz of 4903 N. Madison.

Officers went to the house and received no response. Inside were the bodies of a man, 41, and a woman, 74. Both appeared to be shot, according to a police press release.

Police learned the victims were a mother and her son, who lives on the South Hill.

They did not release the identities until confirmed by an autopsy, police spokesman Dick Cottam said.

Neighbors said Lorenz had worked outside on her lawn or garden almost daily and they had not seen her since Thursday.

She’s lived alone in the home for about a dozen years and was active in her church, Saint Francis of Assisi.
