Notable

Most notable is that the Raiders have won nine of the last 10 meetings between these teams, with the Hawks’ lone triumph being a 38-9 drubbing in L.A. last year.

In Seattle last December, Seahawks kicker John Kasay missed a 43-yard field goal with 9 seconds left in the game to let the Raiders get out of town with a 17-16 win.

The Raiders rank No. 1 in the AFC in rushing, a position owned last season by the Seahawks.

In games played in Oakland, the Raiders are 3-2 against the Seahawks.

The Raiders lead the league in fumble recoveries and stand plus-seven in turnovers.

Defensive end Pat Swilling has five sacks in five games. The other end, Anthony Smith, has made a career out of harassing the Hawks, with 11 sacks against them.

Analysis

If Raiders guards Wisniewski and Gogan handle Seattle defensive tackles Kennedy and Adams, the Raiders will run the ball for 60 minutes.

The speedy Raiders receivers are now more prone to jet away from defenders after a short catch rather than blow past them for the deep ball. The end result might be the same, though.

A more efficient Hostetler directs the offense, although he has been vulnerable to pressure this season, getting sacked 17 times.

Dennis Erickson says that the Hawks have improved every week this season, but this will be a real barometer of how much as Seattle will probably need an almost perfect game to pull off the upset.
