Andre Agassi, the world’s No. 1 tennis player, has withdrawn from the Lyon Open, which begins Oct. 16 in Lyon, France.

Agassi’s agent said the Australian Open champion has not recovered from a chest muscle injury he sustained during the United States-Sweden Davis Cup semifinal two weeks ago at Las Vegas.

The University of Colorado has reached a $5.6 million agreement with Nike Inc. to equip the school’s athletic teams with the company’s apparel through the 2000-2001 school year.

Under the agreement, Nike will equip 15 of its 17 teams with shoes, uniforms and other apparel.

Opening arguments will be heard today before a New York federal court in the wire-fraud trial of boxing promoter Don King, who is charged with defrauding Lloyd’s of London by submitting phony expenses and a fake contract from a canceled title fight between Julio Cesar Chavez and Harold Brazier.
