Obituaries

Emil Schell Pullman, Wash.

Graveside service for Emil Schell, 75, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Pullman City Cemetery. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Community Congregational Church. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Kimball Funeral Home.

Born in McClusky, N.D., Mr. Schell died Saturday.

He had moved to Pullman in 1970 and helped found the Bank of Pullman. He served as the president of the bank from 1971 until 1986, when he retired.

He was a member of the Pullman Community Congregational Church, Whitman Masonic Lodge, El Katif Shrine and the Lions Club. He had been serving as the treasurer of the Lions Club at the time of his death.

Mr. Schell also was a member of the Cougar Club.

He had been honored as Lion of the Year by the Pullman Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Maryhelen; two sons, Gary Schell of Pullman and Dale Schell of Walnut Creek, Calif.; one brother, Arthur Schell of McClusky, N.D.; one sister, Esther Hornbacher of Fargo, N.D.; and three granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Congregational Church.

William Coles Post Falls

Funeral Mass for William Coles, 86, will be today at 10:30 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church of Post Falls. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery of Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel of Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Coles, who was born in Minnesota, died Saturday at home.

He moved to Post Falls with his parents in 1911. He married Madalena Flagel in 1928.

Mr. Coles was a miner at the Yankee Girl Gold Mine in British Columbia, Canada, and then a millwright at the Ohio Match Lumber Co. in Coeur d’Alene. He also worked for Idaho Veneer and a mill in Murray, Idaho, before retiring in 1965.

He was also a carpenter at the Farragut Naval Station and helped build the Post Cafe in Post Falls.

He enjoyed fishing and was a former member of the Carpenters Union, and the Eagles and Elks Lodges of Coeur d’Alene.

His wife died in 1990.

Mr. Coles’ survivors include three sons, Alfred, Robert and William, all of Post Falls; three daughters, Rosemary Dickson of Post Falls, and Margaret Payne and Mary Stith, both of Vancouver, Wash.; one brother, Don Coles of Emmett, Idaho; 18 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Fred Heistuman Post Falls

Graveside service for Fred A. Heistuman, 89, will be today at 2:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel of Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Heistuman, who was born in Ritzville, Wash., died Sunday at home.

He owned and operated the Buena Airport of Yakima for 18 years prior to moving to Post Falls in 1972.

He married Esther Wheelon in 1943. He served in the Army Air Corps as a flight officer stationed in Iran during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, at home; one son, Fred Heistuman of Renton, Wash.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Helen Nagle Potlatch, Idaho

Service for Helen T. Nagle, 75, will be at 2 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash. Burial will follow at Freeze Cemetery.

Mrs. Nagle, who was born in Valentine, Neb., died Saturday.

She moved to Palouse in 1937 and graduated from Palouse High School.

She moved to Potlatch in 1957.

A homemaker, Mrs. Nagle had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, 4-H Club, Will-Do Club, the Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary and the Gritman Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Lloyd; one son, Alan Nagle, and one daughter, Carolyn Crawford, both of Lewiston; two brothers, Edward Foster of Palouse and Neil Foster of Los Angeles; three sisters, Lucille Greer of Woodburn, Ore., Edna Carlson of Mohave Valley, Ariz., and Marian Kimbler of Tucumcari, N.M.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund.

Eugene Conover Lewiston

Service for Eugene C. Conover, 74, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Church. Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home of Lewiston is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Conover, who was born in Endicott, Wash., died of heart failure on Saturday.

He began working for Farmer Supply in 1946. In 1953 the store became Hodgson Ford Tractor Co.

In 1965 Mr. Conover bought the business from Ray Hodgson. He retired in 1982.

Mr. Conover had been a member and past president of the Clarkston Golf and Country Club, a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, and a communicant at St. Stanislaus Church.

He had been involved in cattle and ranching.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane of Clarkston; one daughter, Cheryl Hart of Clarkston; two sons, Dennis and Frank Conover, both of Lewiston; one sister, Blanche Simonton of Lewiston; one brother, Clyde Conover of Seattle; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Home Health and Hospice.

Myrtle Heintz Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Myrtle Y. Heintz, 86, was held at an earlier date. Yates Funeral Home of Coeur d’Alene was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Heintz, who was born in Chicago, died Friday at Coeur d’Alene Convalescent Center.

She grew up and graduated from high school in Chicago and married Finbar Heintz in 1932.

She worked as a secretary until retiring and moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1970.

She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church of Coeur d’Alene and the Grandmothers Club.

Her husband died in 1976.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Heintz of Clearlake, Calif., and James Heintz, of Tolland, Conn.; one daughter, Mary Raffety of Coeur d’Alene; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and one niece.

Ralph Lukinich Post Falls

At his request, no service will be held for Ralph Lukinich, 91. Yates Funeral Home of Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lukinich, who was born in Elwood, Ind., died Friday at home.

He grew up in Wisconsin and moved to Sandpoint in 1936. He married Wanda McCoy in 1950.

After working in the timber industry all of his life, he retired from Louisiana Pacific in Sandpoint and moved to Post Falls in 1974.

He loved gardening and working with wood. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, at home; two sons, Bill Lukinich of Alaska and Gene McCoy of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; two daughters, Paula Gants of Davenport, Wash., and Grace Clark of Marysville, Wash.; and one sister, Bernice Kukuazka of Yakima.

Cleo Kegg Sandpoint

Private family service for Cleo Kegg, 73, was held at an earlier date. Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kegg, who was born in Brinkley, Ark., died Thursday.

She worked on the assembly line of Cubic Electronics in San Diego for many years. She moved to Clark Fork, Idaho, in 1973 from California and then to Sandpoint in 1991.

She was married to Vinton Kegg. He died in 1990.

Survivors include a sister, Alyce Schick of El Cajon, Calif.; two nephews, one niece and several close friends.
