Speak Up At Today’s Forum

Speak now or forever hold your peace.

Well, not forever, but it will be a while before teens again have the undivided attention of Spokane’s adult decision makers.

S-TV Unplugged is a forum aimed at listening to Spokane Teen Voices (hence the name). It’s sponsored by the Chase Youth Commission and Our Generation and will run from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Lewis and Clark High School cafeteria.

The Chase Youth Commission has sent letters to 100 adults in key positions in the city and county, asking them to come listen. It will be your job to talk. The forum is an opportunity for Spokane area teens to voice their concerns and offer solutions about problems affecting their lives.

There have been plenty of issues, especially this summer, that addressed teens, but few teens got the chance to say what they think. At S-TV Unplugged, teens will have the chance to discuss Spokane’s problems with crime and safety, diversity, schools, employment and entertainment.

It’s not a gripe session, but a time for constructive criticism and problem solving. So come have your say, and have a slice of pizza, too.

Teens from all over town are invited. Adults can come, too; just be prepared to listen.
