4-Year-Old Takes Gun To School

Associated Press

A 4-year-old took a loaded .25-caliber pistol to his preschool to show it to his classmates, officials said.

A teacher noticed the gun in the boy’s pocket Tuesday at the Windsong School, confiscated the weapon and called police, said JoAnn Gilford, director of the Tulsa County Head Start Program. The gun held two bullets but the safety was on.

About 15 youngsters were in the class.

School officials called the boy’s parents, who picked up their son and took the gun.

The boy apparently got the gun from his grandmother’s home, said officials of Tulsa Community Action Agency Inc., which operates Head Start.

“The child will not be returning until Head Start officials, working with police, are assured proper steps have been taken to eliminate the possibility of a recurrence,” Gilford said.
