Suspect In Shooting Surrenders

Police have arrested an 18 year-old North Side man for his role in a shooting at the Electron Palace last Friday.

Joshua James Bailey, who lives at 7317 N. Colton, turned himself in Tuesday and was booked on first-degree assault. He remained in custody Tuesday on a $15,000 bond.

The shooting happened near midnight, when four people were leaving the video parlor at 7452 N. Division.The four were walking across a parking lot to their car. Another car, with Bailey in the passenger’s seat, drove by, and Bailey yelled a name at a man in the foursome, according to witnesses. When the man responded, the car stopped and Bailey, holding a gun, got out, witnesses told police.

Bailey aimed a gun at the man’s head, witnesses said. The man grabbed at the gun, and the two fell to the pavement, struggling.

The gun discharged, striking the man in the thigh. He was treated and released from Sacred Heart Medical Center early the next morning.

Police received Bailey’s name from witnesses, who knew him. Police had been looking for Bailey since Saturday.

Skydiver injured

An experienced sky diver made an error during a jump at Mead’s Wallace Airport last week and received head injuries.

Denise Webber, 30, was admitted to Sacred Heart Medical Center on Oct. 7 after she crashed into the ground at 30-40 mph, witnesses said.

Webber, a veteran of about 60 jumps, was accompanied by two instructors. The instructors said she prepared to land late and was falling rapidly as she hit the ground.

She had bruises around her eyes and a bloody nose, so she was airlifted to Sacred Heart to check for head injuries. She was held overnight and released Oct. 8.
