Trio Of Tenors Will Stage Five-City Tour

Associated Press

The world’s favorite trio of tenors announced Wednesday they will reprise their hit Rome and Los Angeles concerts for 300,000 fans in five new cities.

Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti said they will stage a five-city, four-continent tour from late June of next year to March 1997.

The tour kicks off at Tokyo’s Kasumigaoka Stadium on June 29, then moves to London’s Wembley Stadium on July 6. This is followed by Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on July 20; Munich’s Olympic Stadium on Aug. 3 and Melbourne Cricket Ground on March 1, 1997.

Tickets for the Giants Stadium concert will range from $25-$500.

The events will be broadcast live nationally, but there are no plans for worldwide screenings or for recordings, said producer Tibor Rudas.
