WSU Student Suspected In Fires

From Staff And Wire Reports

Washington State University police Wednesday arrested a student suspected of setting a series of fires in a residence hall over the past three weeks.

The student, Nathan Wynn, 22, of Utah, was arrested at the scene after WSU police and fire units responded to a fire alarm in Stimson Hall, where he lived.

His arrest follows a string of about half a dozen fires that burned trash cans and bulletin boards starting Sept. 20. Some of the fires tripped the hall sprinkler system. Wednesday’s fire forced the evacuation of the hall and scorched a floor and the bottom of a couch.

Wynn was booked into the Whitcom County Jail on a charge of first degree arson.

Chief Robert Wilson declined to say what led officers to suspect Wynn had started the fires. , DataTimes
