Wear Bright Colors In Hunting Seasons

Hiking

Fall is a brilliant season for backpacking, but it’s also the hunting season.

While accidental shootings are extremely rare during hunting seasons, there’s no sense taking a chance of momentarily resembling a portion of a game animal in the dark woods.

During hunting season, the fashion principle should focus on flash rather than on blending in with the surroundings.

Take a cue from hunters and brighten your trail appearance:

Wear blaze-orange clothing, such as a cap, Windbreaker or the weightless inexpensive vests sold at hunting supply stores. A biker or runner safety vest is ideal.

Buy a roll of orange flagging tape from a hardware store and tie strips to your pack.

Avoid wearing white, which could resemble the tail of a white-tailed deer, or yellow, which can look like the rump of an elk.

Protect your animals by tying orange flagging around their necks, manes or tails.
