Clara Krieg Spokane

Vigil service for Clara Jane (Farrell) Krieg, 81, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Catholic Church. Her son, the Rev. Michael Krieg, will be the celebrant. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Krieg died Saturday.

Born in Idaho, she moved in 1920 to Coeur d’Alene, where she attended school.

In 1934 she moved to St. Maries. She worked with her husband at the Trustworthy Hardware Store in St. Maries and was a den mother for the Boy Scouts.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Ladies Guild and served on the St. Maries Library Board.

In 1986 she moved to Spokane and volunteered with special education students at Shadle Park High School. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Spokane.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward Krieg of Spokane; one son, the Rev. Michael Krieg of Pullman; one daughter, Barbara Giem of Spokane; one sister, Margaret Marty of St. Maries; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mary Terry Wallace

Graveside inurnment service for Mary Ellen Terry, 71, will be today at 11 a.m. at the Murray Cemetery in Murray, Idaho. Shoshone Funeral Service of Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Terry, who was born in Hood River, Ore., died Thursday at home.

She attended Long Beach State College in Long Beach, Calif., and obtained a nursing license. She worked at the Long Beach Memorial Children’s Hospital and was a neonatal intensive-care nurse.

She moved to the Silver Valley in 1986 and owned and operated the Dorsett House in Kellogg.

Ms. Terry was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She also loved to play cards with her family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Banning of Spokane and Frederick Banning of Seattle; three daughters, Rebecca Shookman of Duvall, Wash., Teddy Drews of Osburn, Idaho, and Patricia Bradshaw of Medford, Ore.; one brother, Robert Montgomery of Wallace; two sisters, Terry Manard and Jerry Belente, both of California; her stepfather, Stanley Savage of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Karl Dittberner Spokane

Visitation for Karl W. Dittberner, 101, is scheduled for Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Service will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Dittberner, who died Friday at home, was born in St. Clair, Minn.

He farmed at Medical Lake for 25 years. In 1943 he moved to the Spokane Valley, where he worked at the Velox Naval Supply Depot until 1946.

He then moved to DeSmet, Idaho, and farmed until 1967, when he retired to Spokane.

He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of the Spokane Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Lutheran Church.

His wife, Flossie, died in 1993.

Survivors include two sons, David Dittberner of Colbert and Donald Dittberner of Potomac, Md.; two daughters, Florence DeShields of DeSmet, Idaho, and Helen Freeman of Pinole, Calif.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.

Phyllis Elmore Spokane

Service for Phyllis A. Elmore, 57, was Monday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial was at Pines Cemetery.

Mrs. Elmore, a 51-year Spokane resident, died Thursday.

She was born in Indianapolis, Ind.

Mrs. Elmore worked for Pacific First Federal Savings and Loan for 15 years before retiring in 1990.

She was also a homemaker.

She was a member of Pines Baptist Church and was a Camp Fire leader.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert Elmore; two daughters, Vicki Elmore of Cheney and Melinda Langworthy of Sweden; one brother, Charles Smith of Spokane; two sisters, Mae Fultz of Pinehurst, Idaho, and Geneva Ogle of Liberty Lake; and one grandson.

Carl Coe Kellogg

Memorial service for Carl George Coe, 72, was held Sunday in Silverton, Idaho. Shoshone Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Coe, who was born in Plummer, Idaho, died Thursday.

He graduated from Plummer High School in 1937 and moved to California. He served in the Army during World War II.

Mr. Coe moved to Kellogg in 1950 and worked for the Bunker Hill Co. Zinc Plant until his retirement in 1981.

He was an avid bowler and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Wardner Industrial Club and the Bunker Hill 20-Year Club.

Survivors include three daughters, Suzanne Coe of Chelan, Wash., Kathleen Doty of California and Carla Hemmerich of New Mexico; one brother, Harvey Coe of Kingston, Idaho; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation, or the Good Samaritan Center in Silverton.

Lucy Duval-Hoppie Coeur d’Alene

Service for Lucy V. Duval-Hoppie, 93, will be today at 5:15 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hayden Lake Ward. Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Duval-Hoppie, who was born in Rexburg, Idaho, died Friday at home.

She grew up and graduated from high school in southern Idaho and later moved to Nevada.

She married James Duval in 1931, and they lived in Nevada.

She moved to Coeur d’Alene in the early 1970s. Her husband died in 1977.

In 1987 she married Oliver Hoppie and moved to Boise. Her second husband died in 1990, and she returned to Coeur d’Alene.

Survivors include a son, James Duval of Hayden; three daughters, Lurley Duval and Lois Clegg, both of Hayden, Idaho, and Shirley Ellers of Cocolalla, Idaho; 52 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Patricia Nyberg Mead

Memorial service for Patricia C. Nyberg, 74, will be at 2 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nyberg, who died Saturday, was born in Carrington, N.D., and had lived in Spokane for 55 years.

She worked for the Palace Department Store, First National Bank and, for 17 years, as an auditor for Sears.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles Nyberg; two daughters, Carol Newcomb of Priest River, Idaho, and Kristine Dailing of Mead; two sisters, Peggy Bell of Priest River and Ida Mae Bartholmew of Mead; one brother, John Carr of Spokane; and five grandchildren.

Lori Moore St. Maries, Idaho

Memorial service for Lori Moore, 28, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the home of Marvin and Joyce Moore, Upper Hell’s Gulch Road, Harrison Flats, Idaho. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home of St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Moore, who was born in California, died Friday in St. Maries of complications resulting from a pregnancy.

She had lived in Snohomish, Wash., and moved in 1980 to St. Maries, where she attended school.

A graduate of Kootenai High School, she married David Moore in 1982.

Mr. Moore died in 1991.

Ms. Moore had worked for the Plummer Quick Stop, Archie’s IGA Store and Don and Minerva’s Cafe in St. Maries.

She married Matt Hebert in 1991.

She lived in Coeur d’Alene for several years before returning to St. Maries this year.

She enjoyed being with her friends and playing darts and Foosball.

Survivors include her husband, at home; two sons, David Moore and Bradley Hebert, both of St. Maries; three daughters, Danielle Moore, Larisa Moore and Chelcie Hebert, all of St. Maries; her mother, Paula Brooks of Wishram, Washington; her father, Arnold Schaffer of Spokane; one brother, James Schaffer of Spokane; two sisters, Pam Schaffer and Carol Cameron, both of California; and a grandmother, Marjorie Black of Silverdale, Wash.

Louise Bemis Coeur d’Alene

Funeral service for Louise C. Bemis, 91, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in St. Maries. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home of St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bemis, a lifelong resident of St. Maries, died Friday in Coeur d’Alene.

She grew up and attended school in St. Maries, later receiving nurse training and working for the former Milwaukee Railroad Hospital in St. Maries. She married Albert Bemis in 1925 and became a homemaker.

She returned to nursing in 1937 and continued her career until retiring from the Benewah Community Hospital in 1971. She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1990. Her husband died in 1952.

She enjoyed gardening, reading and poetry. She was a member of the St. Maries Eagles Auxiliary.

Her survivors include a son, Robert of Coeur d’Alene; one brother, Lee Lindstrom of St. Maries; two grandsons, seven great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.

James DeWolfe Spokane

Memorial service for James Francis DeWolfe, 65, was Monday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

Born in Boston, Mr. DeWolfe died last Tuesday at home.

He had lived in Spokane since 1952 and worked as a custodian.

He is survived by one sister, Sister Joan Marie Hill of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, Dorothy DeWolfe of Everett; two sons, Vincent and Jim DeWolfe, both of Spokane; and three grandchildren.
