Officers Plan Traffic Safety Zone

From Staff Reports

The Coeur d’Alene Police CARE team will be watching traffic along U.S. Highway 95 Wednesday as part of a special traffic enforcement effort.

The CARE team Community Accident Reduction through Education - is made up of four officers.

All four will patrol U.S. Highway 95 between Kathleen Avenue and Appleway throughout Wednesday, said Officer Joe Denton.

They’ll be watching for drivers who are speeding, failing to use their turn signals and driving in other ways that “tend to contribute to traffic accidents,” Denton said.

The officers will give warnings and tickets. They will use moving and stationary radar detectors, as well as a laser speed detector.

The Appleway/Highway 95 area has the highest number of traffic accidents in Coeur d’Alene, Denton said.

The CARE team’s goal is to reduce Coeur d’Alene’s high accident rate. , DataTimes
