Peacock Rules The Roost On Thursday Nights

Maybe NBC doesn’t own Thursday nights, but it sure seems to have an ironclad lease.

Last week, NBC’s Thursday lineup occupied five of the top six slots. NBC’s Tuesday hit, “Frasier,” sneaked into fifth place.

And for the second straight week, NBC also won overall with a 13.1 rating and 22 share, according to Nielsen Media Research figures released Tuesday.

Despite critical hurrahs and heavy promotion, ABC’s “Murder One” tied for 51st place in its first encounter with “ER.” And that network announced the death of its two other Thursday entries, newcomers “Charlie Grace” and “The Monroes.”

Facing “Seinfeld” and “Caroline in the City,” CBS’s “New York News” tied for a dismal 73rd.

You get the idea.

Coming in behind NBC, ABC had an 11.4 rating and 19 share for Oct. 9-15. CBS was third with a puny 9.2 rating and 15 share. Fox, programming about 15 hours, scored a 7.1 rating and 11 share.

ABC’s ratings were affected by West Coast pre-emptions for “NFL Monday Night Football” and baseball playoffs. NBC had low coverage Friday due to playoffs.
