Fourteen-year-old Schuyler Knapp was in satisfactory condition Friday after one or more cars struck him when he tried to cross Evergreen Road near his Spokane Valley home.
Knapp was in intensive care at Sacred Heart Medical Center with a lacerated forehead, numerous scrapes and a bruised lung.
The Washington State Patrol said Knapp was crossing Evergreen at Eighth Avenue about 6:30 p.m. Thursday when he was hit in the northbound lane by a station wagon driven by Robert J. Stose, 27, of Spokane. Knapp was thrown into the southbound lane, where officers at first thought he was struck by two pickup trucks.
Sgt. Chris Powell said Friday there was no clear evidence that the pickups hit the boy. Anyone with information about the gray pickup is asked to call the State Patrol at 456-4101.
Powell said no charges were planned against any of the drivers.
