Taxi Driver Robbed Of Cash, Car Keys

From Staff And Wire Reports

A cab driver was robbed Tuesday by a passenger who took the keys to the taxi along with money, Spokane County sheriff’s deputies said.

The driver said he was flagged by a man in the 5500 block of Sunset Boulevard shortly after 6 a.m. The man said he wanted a ride to Spokane and got inside the cab.

A few minutes later, the passenger displayed a handgun and ordered the driver to stop at the entrance to the Indian Canyon riding stables off Government Way.

Then he robbed the driver of some cash, pulled the microphone cord from the cab radio and took the driver’s keys.

The thief left on foot. Deputies wouldn’t say how much money was taken.

The driver flagged down a passing car and asked someone to call police. He described the suspect as white, about 20 or 30, with dark hair.

There were no injuries.
