‘Peter Vs. The Wolf’ First Family Concert

The Spokane Symphony will perform the first Family concert of the season on Sunday at the Opera House at 2 p.m.

The title of the concert is “Peter Vs. The Wolf,” a sequel to the Sergei Prokofiev fairy tale “Peter And The Wolf.”

“Peter Vs. The Wolf” combines theater and music.

It’s a comedy, featuring local actors, that takes people inside the courtroom where the Wolf is being tried for “Duckicide” for eating Peter’s duck. If found guilty the wolf will be shipped to the zoo.

In the original story, Peter hunted the wolf after he ate the duck.

Guest conductor Patricia Handy will be at the helm.

An hour before the concert at 1 p.m., the symphony will host a “Musical FunFair” in the lobby of the Opera House. During this, kids can learn, hands-on, about the various instruments used by the orchestra. It’s to be a musical petting zoo of sorts, and kids will be able to play an instrument.

Plus, they can meet the acting cast of “Peter Vs. The Wolf.”

At 1:30, there will be a Halloween costume contest for the best wolf costume. Symphony tickets and gift certificates from Wolffy’s Restaurant are among the prizes.

Tickets are $7.50 and $5.50 and are available at the Spokane Symphony ticket office on the skywalk level of the Seafirst Building, and at G&B outlets.
