Us West Reports Slightly Lower Profits

US West Inc. on Friday reported a slight loss in net income for the third quarter, but declared the results solid because of strong growth in its wireless operations.

The telecommunications company, which operates in 14 states, reported $316 million in net income, or 67 cents a share, for the quarter compared with $318 million, or 70 cents a share, during the third quarter of 1994.

“Our combined operations continue producing solid results,” said US West Chairman Richard McCormick.
