Wilson Pays Back Taxes On Three Housekeepers

Compiled From Wire Services

Gov. Pete Wilson on Friday paid $15,000 in federal taxes and penalties after a report showed he failed to pay Social Security taxes on three housekeepers between 1971 and 1990.

The revelation in May that one of those maids, Josefina Klag, may have been an illegal immigrant dealt an early blow to Wilson’s unsuccessful run for the Republican presidential nomination.

“I have never intentionally failed to make necessary Social Security payments, but I take full responsibility for these oversights and have satisfied my obligations to Social Security,” Wilson said.
