Empty Meat-Packing Plant Burns

Fire destroyed a vacant meat-packing plant and sheriff’s deputies questioned a man seen nearby shortly after the flames were reported Thursday.

The fire was reported in the two-story wooden building by Burlington Northern Railroad employees just after 5:30 a.m. Firefighters battled the blaze for the next three hours.
