Uptown Opera Offers Preview This Weekend

No, the Uptown Opera’s “Tales of Hoffmann” does not open until a week from today.

But you can see it this weekend anyway.

It’s the Uptown Opera’s preview weekend, with fully staged final rehearsal performances of Offenbach’s “Tales of Hoffmann” being staged at reduced prices.

Tickets for these preview performances are $8, which are less than half the price of the regular performances, which run Sept. 8 through Sept. 16.

The main cast, or Gold Cast, will perform in tonight’s preview at 8. The backup cast, or Silver Cast, will perform in Saturday’s preview at 8 p.m. Each preview will feature the full orchestra.

“The Tales of Hoffmann” is based on the stories of E.T.A. Hoffmann, and was first performed in Paris in 1881.

All performances are at The Met. Tickets for the previews and for the main run of the opera are available at all G&B Select-a-Seat outlets or by calling 325-SEAT or (800) 325-SEAT.
