Post Falls Pummels Lakeland

Wide receiver Brett Hollenbeck hauled in a 93-yard touchdown pass from Travis O’Briant and returned a punt 85 yards as Post Falls handled Lakeland 27-7 in a season-opening high school football game Friday night in Post Falls.

Both Coeur d’Alene schools lost.

The CdA Vikings dropped a 15-14 victory to visiting Boise when the Braves came up with a touchdown and two-point conversion in the final minutes. Lake City suffered a 20-17 defeat to St. Maries, which got three touchdowns and 125 yards rushing from Jason Hall. St. Maries overcame six turnovers and 130 yards in penalties to keep the second-year Timberwolves from their first football win.

Elsewhere, Jeremy Thielbahr ran 8 yards for a touchdown with less than 3 minutes remaining to give Sandpoint a 29-22 win over Bonners Ferry, Falls Christian was battered 72-24 by Mullan, Kellogg and Wallace played to a 20-20 tie and Lakeside of Plummer beat Clark Fork 36-7 as Buck Allen amassed 285 yards in total offense, scored three touchdowns and caught a two-point conversion pass.
