4.8 Quake Jars Northern California

Compiled From Wire Services

A moderate quake rattled wine bottles and tourists but did no major damage Monday morning in Northern California’s wine country.

The 7:16 a.m. quake had a preliminary magnitude of 4.8, said Pat Jorgenson of the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor was centered about eight miles east-northeast of Healdsburg in Sonoma County, heart of the state’s wine-making region.
