Freak Accident Kills Teenager

Associated Press

A high school student died Tuesday after hitting his head on a roadside mailbox when the car he was riding in swerved.

Nathan Ostrowski, 16, of South Fayette Township outside Pittsburgh, became ill at football practice Monday and was getting a ride home when the driver swerved to avoid hitting a groundhog.

Ostrowski, who was resting his head on his arm on the car’s front seat window ledge, struck his head on a mailbox on the side of the road.

Ostrowski was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, where he died on Tuesday.
