Post Falls Declared Disadvantaged

The west end of Post Falls was officially declared a disadvantaged border community at a council meeting this week.

The City Council unanimously agreed on Tuesday to adopt the ordinance, which will allow special financing privileges to help bring business and industry to Post Falls.

The designation makes developers eligible for tax-increment financing, a method of funding by which the city backs bonds sold to fund infrastructure needs such as sewers and streets. The bonds are repaid by tax revenue generated from those developments.

The council also changed two polling places for future elections, including November’s city election.

Instead of voting at City Hall, residents will go either to the National Guard Armory on Seltice Way or Seltice Elementary School.
