Rent A Car, By The Hour

Associated Press

Value Rent-A-Car is counting on new business with customers who need cars for only a short time under an hourly rate structure announced Thursday.

Customers must choose among weekly, daily and hourly rates when reserving a car, but the hourly rentals will be available for as little as 99 cents an hour with no minimum required.

“The biggest change is that our customers can now choose the pricing option that is best-suited to their needs every time they rent our cars,” said Chief Operating Officer Dan McNamara.

Cars for special events and quick one-way trips will be available by the hour, along with options from ski racks to loss damage waivers.

Hourly rates are not necessarily 1/24th of the daily rates, but customers can calculate whether a sevenhour rental would be cheaper than a day.
