Leonov, Chiefs Win 5-4

Dmitri Leonov scored a hat trick as the Spokane Chiefs edged the host Seattle Americans 5-4 in a Western Hockey League exhibition on Friday.

Spokane trailed 2-1 after the first period and scored the lone goal of the second period.

Joe Cardarelli and Randy Favaro also scored for Spokane, which improved its preseason record to 2-1-1.

The teams meet again at 6 p.m. Sunday at Eagles Ice-A-Rena.
