Margy Caron Wallace

Memorial service for Margy Manteuffel Caron, 62, will be today at 3 p.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Osburn, Idaho.

Mrs. Caron, who was born in St. Paul, Minn., died Thursday at the Silver Valley Medical Center in Silverton after an extended illness.

She was a longtime Wallace resident. She married Bato Caron in 1975.

She enjoyed bowling, gardening and her pets and loved to make people laugh.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994.

Survivors include her stepchildren, Bob Caron of Colorado and Susie Heimbigner of Issaquah, Wash.; one sister, Arline Stanley of Wallace; numerous grandchildren, one niece and six nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Silver Valley Medical Center or the Shoshone County Humane Society.

George Bradley Otis Orchards

Memorial service for George F. Bradley, 82, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Opportunity Christian Church. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bradley, who had lived in Spokane for 80 years, died Monday.

He was born in British Columbia.

He was a manager at Zephyr Christian Conference Camp Grounds in Liberty Lake, and was a member of Opportunity Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Bradley; three daughters, Lois Debenham of Worley, Idaho, Donna Catlett of Walla Walla and Carol Scheurer of Greenacres; one brother, two sisters, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Donald Anderson Sandpoint

Memorial service for Donald L. Anderson, 60, will be today at 10 a.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Anderson, who was born in California, died Aug. 20 of a heart attack at sea off the coast of Japan.

He married Barbara Tokos in Carson City, Nev., in 1955. He worked in construction in California before moving to the Sandpoint area in 1970.

Mr. Anderson had been a merchant seaman who served as a junior engineer on ships traveling the Pacific and the Mediterranean. He also worked for the sawmill in Dover, Idaho, and drove a logging truck.

He was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors are his wife, at home; four sons, Christopher of Mead, Donald of Dover, and Jeffrey and Joseph, both of Sandpoint; one sister, Dorothy Hart of Big Sur, Calif.; one brother, David of Truckee, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Marvin ‘Lucky’ Lang Spokane

Service for Marvin “Lucky” Lang, 69, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.

Mr. Lang, who died Wednesday, was born in Wishek, N.D.

He had lived in Spokane for more than 42 years, and was a detective with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department for 23 years.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge No. 2, and was a World War II and Korean War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Vicki Frew of North Canton, Ohio, and Barbara Wilhelm; one son, Brian Lang of Soldotna, Alaska; two stepsons, Patrick and Anthony Wiener, both of Spokane; one brother, Ben Lang of Wishek, N.D.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Eugene Didyoung Columbia, S.C.

Memorial Mass for Eugene Edward Didyoung, 73, will be Monday in Ridgeway, S.C. Talbert-Shives Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Didyoung, a former Spokane resident, died Wednesday at home.

He was born in Stamford, Conn.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

From 1973 to 1990 he lived in Spokane and was a locksmith for Whitworth College. He moved to Columbia in 1990.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn and Keith Didyoung, both of Blythewood, S.C., and three grandchildren.

Jason Fretheim Spokane

Memorial service for Jason Eric Fretheim, 24, will be today at 11 a.m. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fretheim died Monday in Eagle, Idaho.

He was born in Silverton, Idaho, and lived most of his life in the Silver Valley, graduating from Kellogg High School in 1989.

He later moved to Spokane and was an operator maintainer for the Alutek Co., for the past three years.

Mr. Fretheim married Jennifer Hunter in Spokane in 1994.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Survivors include his wife, and son, Jared, at home in Spokane; parents, Dennis and Cathy Fretheim of Smelterville, Idaho; sister, Tisha Ghigleri of Page, Idaho; grandmothers, Thelma Fretheim of Pinehurst, Idaho, and Bernice Zittel of Kingston, Idaho; and two nieces.

Mary St. John Spokane

Graveside service and inurnment for Mary Melissa St. John, 86, will be at the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City, Mont. Hazen and Jaegar Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. St. John died Aug. 30 at home.

She was born in Ismay, Mont.

Mrs. St. John received an elementary teaching certificate from Eastern Montana Normal College in Billings. She taught in Ismay and Miles City and was elected Custer County superintendent of schools in 1939. She served until 1948.

She and her husband, Warren, moved to Riverdale, N.D., where they operated the Riverdale Pharmacy. They also lived in Coeur d’Alene and operated the Shorewood Motel on Lake Coeur d’Alene.

They moved to Spokane in 1964 and became owners of the West Valley Pharmacy. They retired in 1976.

Her husband died in 1994.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Janice Becker-Nash Spokane

Service for Janice K. Becker-Nash, 57, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Odessa (Wash.) Cemetery Chapel with burial at Odessa Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home in Odessa is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Becker-Nash, who was born in Odessa, died Wednesday.

She graduated from Harrington High School in 1956 and moved to California in 1958. In 1988 she moved to Spokane and worked in day cares.

She is survived by her parents, Fred and Esther Becker of Spokane; and one sister, Carol Maurer of Harrington, Wash.

Earl Johnstone Spokane

Service for Earl H. Johnstone, 73, will be at 1 p.m. today at First Free Methodist Church with burial at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnstone, who died Tuesday, was a lifetime Spokane resident.

He was a railroad switchman and retired in 1979.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 45 and First Free Methodist Church.

His wife, Wilma, died in 1984.

Mr. Johnstone’s survivors include one son, Ronney Million of Tacoma; one brother, Fay Johnstone of Spokane; one sister, Carol Schmidt of Spokane; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Free Methodist Church.

Agnes Krieg Spokane

Service for Agnes E. Krieg, 82, is set for 11 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Krieg, who died Wednesday, was born in Harrington, Wash.

A homemaker, she had lived in Spokane for 28 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Lillian Rosema of Spokane; two sons, Harvey Krieg of Springdale, Wash., and Donald Krieg of North Clarendon, Vt.; six brothers, Albert Riehle of Spokane, Frederick Riehle of Wenatchee, David Riehle of Nine Mile Falls, Paul Riehle of Wilson Creek, Wash., Daniel Riehle of Deer Park, and Phillip Riehle of Cheney; 10 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

Sister Tarcisia Lenert Spokane

Funeral Mass for Sister Tarcisia Lenert, 94, will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Dominican Center. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Lenert died Thursday at Holy Names Health Center.

She was born in Germany and entered St. Dominicus Institute in Speyer, Germany, in 1916 and made her profession as a Dominican Sister in 1923.

She came to the United States from England in 1936 and received a bachelor’s degree in education from Holy Names College and a master’s degree from Gonzaga University.

She was an elementary schoolteacher in Montana, Oroville, Wash., and Spokane.

She had also worked in bookkeeping in the hospitals in Conrad, Mont., and Chewelah and Colville, Wash.

She retired in Spokane in 1972.

She is survived by nieces and nephews in Germany.

Robert Manly Spokane

Memorial service for Robert B. Manly, 46, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Mausoleum at Fairmount Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.

Mr. Manly died Aug. 29 from complications due to AIDS.

He was born in White Salmon, Wash., and had lived in Spokane since 1982.

He was co-owner with his brother, Paul, of Quality Florists.

He was active in the Spokane AIDS Network, Spokane Orchid Society, Uptown Opera, Valley Repertoire Theater, Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral Festival of Flowers, Spokane Symphony Society, Wishing Star Foundation, the American Cancer Society and the Silver Spurs.

He is survived by his parents, Adele and William Manly of White Salmon; six brothers, Paul and John Manly, both of Spokane, Oscar Manly of St. Petersburg, Fla., Timothy Manly of Juneau, Alaska, David Manly of Vancouver, Wash., and Joseph Manly of Longview, Wash.; two sisters, Susan Luebbers of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Sarah Parrish of Billings, Mont.’ and one foster sister, Leona Bouwens of Portland.

Frederick Volberding Spokane

No service will be held for Frederick W. Volberding, 90, at his request. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Volberding, who was born in Lake Park, Iowa, died Monday.

He moved to Spokane from Portland 50 years ago. He worked as a mechanic at Central Pre-Mix before retiring in 1970.

He is survived by one daughter, Betty Damm of Spokane; one brother, two sisters, four grandsons, three great-grandsons and six great-granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

Pansy Franklin Spokane

Service for Pansy Erma Franklin, 86, was Tuesday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial was at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Born in Spokane, Mrs. Franklin died Sept. 1 at Regency North Nursing Home.

She was a homemaker.

Her husband, John Franklin, died in 1990.

She is survived by one daughter, Virginia Finch of Spokane; two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Ina Roskam Scottsdale, Ariz.

No service will be held for Ina M. (Yourt) Roskam, 87. Burial was at Riverside Memorial Park in Spokane.

Mrs. Roskam, a former Spokane resident, died Aug. 27 in Phoenix.

She was born in Spokane and graduated from North Central High School.

She and her husband, Martin Roskam, moved to a farm near Colville, Wash., in 1946.

He died in 1960, and she moved to the Kent/Auburn, Wash., area to live with her daughter. Mrs. Roskam moved to Scottsdale in 1990.

She is survived by her daughter, Beryl Stowe of Scottsdale; a sister, Margaret Yourt of Spokane; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Harold Stevens Spokane

At his request, no service will be held for Harold D. Stevens. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation.

Mr. Stevens, 80, died Sept. 1.

He was born in Amidon, N.D.

Mrs. Stevens had lived in Spokane for 34 years and owned the Conoco gas station at the corner of Hastings Road and Division Street from 1961 until 1980.

His wife, Marie Stevens, died in 1989.

He is survived by two daughters, Dixie Stevens of Portland and Rita Fateley of Renton, Wash.; three sisters, Evelyn Johnson and Mabel Curtis, both of Spokane, and Dorothy Clark of Whitefish, Mont.; two brothers, Ed Stevens of Spokane and Dick Stevens of California; and one grandson.

Julius Reiner Grants Pass, Ore.

No service will be held for Julius Arthur Reiner, 85, at his request. Slawson’s Funeral Home in Grants Pass is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Reiner, who was born in Upham, N.D., died last Saturday at his son’s home.

He grew up in Montana and moved to Spokane in 1937.

He worked as an agent and telegrapher for the Great Northern Railway, Burlington Northern Railroad and Amtrak. He worked in Edwall, Douglas and Wenatchee, Wash., before retiring in 1975.

Mr. Reiner lived in Wenatchee for 20 years and returned to Spokane a few years ago.

He moved to Grants Pass seven months ago.

His wife, Ruth, died in 1987.

Survivors include two sons, Rich Reiner of Grants Pass and Roger Reiner of Spokane; one brother, Edwin Reiner of San Diego; one sister, Esther Hammond of Milwaukie, Ore.; five grandchildren and one greatgranddaughter.

Lorenda Stafford Spokane

Memorial service for Lorenda Kay Stafford, 40, was Tuesday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stafford, a lifetime Spokane resident, died last Saturday at home.

She graduated from Central Valley High School.

She had been president of Able Walls Systems Inc. for the past six years.

She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Mike Stafford, one son, Joseph Stafford, and one daughter, Bonnie Stafford, all at home; her parents, Richard and Carol Ingalls of Asotin, Wash.; three sisters, Kathy Hamilton of Coeur d’Alene, Bonnie Smith of Portland and Sue Hatch of Liberty Lake; and two brothers, Ken Ingalls of Vancouver, Wash., and Casey Ingalls of Spokane.
