Police Seek Supplier To 7 Who Overdosed

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 17-year-old boy who overdosed on prescription muscle relaxants and was in a coma returned home Friday, while Spokane police continued investigating how he and six other youths obtained the drug.

The boy was taken unconscious to Holy Family Medical Center late Wednesday night after he and a group of friends swallowed large amounts of the drug Baclofen.

Two teenage girls, ages 14 and 13, remained at Sacred Heart Medical Center Friday in satisfactory condition. They were expected to go home today.

Four other teens were released from Holy Family.

The teens had gathered at a North Side home and consumed so much of the drug that one of them was barely breathing when discovered by the owner of the house, the father of one of the teens.

All seven, whose identities are being withheld because they are juveniles, had to have their stomachs pumped at Holy Family.

Police found a prescription bottle for 300 pills on one of the teens. Only 62 tablets remained.

Police are investigating to determine who supplied the drugs.

“Anyone who gives this drug to someone other than the person on the prescription form has committed a crime,” said Spokane Police spokesman Dick Cottam. , DataTimes
