After 48 years of pratfalls, Joe Vani will receive his profession’s highest honor - induction into the Clown Hall of Fame.
Only 29 clowns have been inducted at the Delavan, Wis., hall.
Vani is thrilled to be joining the elite group Oct. 14. “I’m overwhelmed. I’m the last of the old-time clowns,” the 82-year-old Vani said, puffing a cigar. “There’s nobody left from my era but me. That’s a funny feeling.”
Vani was a circus clown from 1932 until 1980, when failing eyesight forced him to retire.
