In The World Of Style, Moore Is Definitely Less

Compiled By Staff Writer Rick Bo

At $12 million a picture, you’d think Demi Moore could afford to do a bit better in the fashion department.

For the third time, the 32-year-old actress has made People magazine’s worst-dressed celebrity list (which may explain why she keeps popping up on magazine covers without wearing a single stitch).

Moore’s clothes are “all over the map,” sniffed Hollywood designer Denise Wingate. Agreed drag queen RuPaul: “Bad choices for nighttime, and sloppy choices for daytime.”

Joining Moore on the losers’ list: actresses Drew Barrymore, Crystal Bernard, Fran Drescher, Lori Petty, Tori Spelling and Pamela Anderson, singer Melissa Etheridge and actors Tony Curtis and Nicolas Cage.

Among the best-dressed: O.J. Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark.

Loose talk

David Letterman, on how CBS could improve its ratings: “Get yourself a room. Put a TV camera in the room. Put a heavy lock on the door. Inside this room, now, with the TV camera on, you let Mark Fuhrman explain those audio tapes to Mike Tyson.”

Odds are that he’ll stop counting them today

George Jones turns 64 today.

Unfortunately, justice will not be so swift

Fresh from his 89-second victory over Peter McNeeley, Mike Tyson is scheduled to appear in a New Jersey courtroom today to face civil charges that he repeatedly assaulted and threatened to kill former wife Robin Givens’ publicist in 1988.

It had to be the corniest thing they ever did

Speaking of heavy hitters, figure skater Nancy Kerrigan’s wedding to her agent, Jerry Solomon, in Boston on Saturday was marred briefly as passengers aboard a tour bus outside the church chanted, “Tonya! Tonya!” before apologizing to the booing crowd.

Guess it’s not such a good year for the Joneses

Elsewhere on the legal beat, two of country legend George Jones’ sons have filed a federal lawsuit in Texas, saying they haven’t been paid royalties on some of his early hits as required under Jones’ 1968 divorce agreement with his first wife.

In other words, stay off the highway, man

Waylon Jennings has canceled 11 shows this month while he undergoes hospital tests to find out why he’s been feeling so weak lately. The 58-yearold country star’s doctor advised him not to perform “until further notice.”

Never, ever be afraid to do the right thing

For actress Rosie Perez (“Do The Right Thing,” “White Men Can’t Jump”), participating in an AIDs walk on Sunday on Denver was an act of penance. When a close friend was dying of the disease, Perez recalled, “I kept saying, ‘Yeah, yeah, I’ll be there,’ but when I finally showed up, he’d died the day before. I was just scared to see him.”
