Plane Loses Power; 3 Die In Crash
Three people died and 37 others were injured Monday when a plane crashed in eastern Afghanistan while trying to make an emergency landing, airport officials said.
The Russian-made Antonov-26 - with 47 passengers and a crew of seven - was flying from the Afghan capital of Kabul to the eastern city of Jalalabad when it lost power in both engines.
The plane skidded into a ditch when the brakes failed. At least a dozen family members of Afghan Prime Minister Ahmed Shah Ahmedzai were aboard, but none was apparently killed.
