Shooting Suspect Arrested In Seattle

Compiled From Wire Services

A Coeur d’Alene man wanted for attempted murder has been arrested in Seattle, police said Monday.

Police have been looking for Urbano Brito Herrera of Coeur d’Alene since April when he allegedly shot Martin Nunez in the chest.

“The arrest is very relieving,” said Valentino Nunez, Martin Nunez’ brother. “My brother has been at times pretty paranoid about leaving the house.”

Nunez and Herrera got into a fight at Beta’s Place tavern on Sherman Avenue in April. A short time later Nunez was shot in an alley only a few blocks away, according to a Coeur d’Alene Police report.

Nunez survived the shooting even though the bullet pierced his chest and his arm. Valentino said his brother has almost fully recovered.

An arrest warrant was issued for Herrera. Coeur d’Alene Police Capt. Carl Bergh said that Seattle Police officers arrested Herrera on Aug. 24 on an assault charge.

Herrera is fighting extradition to Idaho, Bergh said.
