Windows 95 Sales Top 4 Million Mark

Compiled From Wire Services

Microsoft Corp. sold 4 million copies of Windows 95 through retailers and personal computer makers in the last three weeks, meeting most forecasts.

Microsoft, which makes software that runs 80 percent of the world’s PCs, is expected to sell from 20 million to 25 million copies of its new operating system by the end of the year.

“It’s rolling down the track where people thought,” said Aaron C. Goldberg, analyst at Computer Intelligence Infocorp. “But there’s concern about how much track is left.”
