Edwin Deppner Davenport, Wash.

Edwin Deppner, a resident of Davenport, is 100 years old today. Born Sept. 21, 1895, in Volynia, Russia, Mr. Deppner has lived in Davenport for the past 93 years.

He married his wife Emily in 1923. She died in 1978.

Mr. Deppner has been a farmer all his life, having worked on local farms and in a grain warehouse.

He is the father of Sugar Kik, Edwina Mielke and Art Deppner, all of Davenport, and the late Don Deppner. He has 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two greatgreat-grandchildren.

When asked what he attributes his longevity to, he replied, “living a clean life, being a hard worker and being an avid Bible reader.”

Mr. Deppner still maintains his own home and still cuts hay with a hand sickle and pitchforks it into stacks.
