Spokane Driver Faces Charge Of Hit-And-Run

A Spokane man who crashed into another car early Wednesday and then ran from the scene was arrested by Washington State Patrol troopers for hit-and-run, a felony.

Dale Bohnert, 23, also was booked into the Spokane County Jail for vehicular assault and driving with a suspended license.

Troopers said he was driving north on Regal about 3:20 a.m. when he hit a southbound car head-on, injuring two people inside. The accident occurred just south of Lincoln Road.

Robin Payton, 40, of Spokane, and Robert Payton, 33, suffered cuts to the head and face and were taken to Holy Family Hospital. They were treated and released later Wednesday.

A passenger in Bohnert’s car who also ran from the scene has not been found, troopers said.
