Drivers To Be Warned Of Overheight Loads
A system designed to detect overheight loads has been installed on westbound lanes of Interstate 90, between the Sherman Avenue and 15th Street exits.
The detector system uses a light beam to determine the height of a load and will help prevent damage to the westbound bridge at Ninth Street.
If a load is over the 14-feet legal limit, the detector activates two electronic signs directing the driver to exit at the 15th Street interchange and return to I-90 at the Highway 95 interchange.
The system is expected to serve as a warning for drivers without overheight permits. , DataTimes
