From Staff Reports

Homeless veterans are encouraged to come to Lewis and Clark High School today and Sunday to receive food, clothing and shelter.

The 1995 Standdown for Homeless Veterans is planned for today and Sunday and is coordinated by the Inland Northwest Allied Veterans Council.

After 8 a.m. today, homeless veterans are encouraged to show up at the Standdown encampment, 521 W. 4th.

They will receive clothing, hot showers, a cot to sleep on, three meals a day, medical care and counseling. Veterans Administration officials also will be available to identify benefits the veterans may be able to receive.

The veterans council has acquired more than $2 million worth of government surplus, including sleeping bags, boots, blankets and other gear for the weekend.
