Truckers Dash To Save Hurt Driver

Compiled From Wire Services

Two truckers jumped from their rigs and pulled a man from a pickup truck seconds before a freight train smashed into it.

“Those two guys are heroes,” said Theresa Davis, who saw the rescue Friday.

Truckers Shawn Dyke and Vincent Carr were driving on Interstate 40 when Rick Keith Harp’s pickup went out of control.

“All of a sudden, I look over and the guy’s head is tilted all the way back and he looks passed out,” said Dyke, a driver for North American Freight Lines.

Harp’s pickup left the interstate, sailed through a fence and up a hill and stopped on the train tracks.

Harp, 38, of San Luis Obispo, Calif., was in critical but stable condition with head injuries.
