Davidson Gets First Win Of ‘95 Bowler’s Victory Puts Him Atop Regional Point Standings

Bob Davidson of Seattle earned his first PBA title this year after three second place finishes, outlasting Centralia’s Hugh Miller 258-246 in the high-scoring final match of the Northwest PBA Regional Sunday at Silver Lanes.

Davidson began the day in first place after Saturday’s 10 qualifying games. He held that lead throughout most of Sunday, except for a four-game span when Miller rolled a 299 in game 18. In game 22, Davidson defeated Greg Thomas 249-246 and kept the lead.

With the win, Davidson thwarted Miller’s chances Sunday of becoming the region’s first bowler to win four titles in one year.

In match one of the finals, Shane Blamires of Lewiston beat Mike Hernandez 278-235. Lance Steggell then eliminated Blamires 227-225 in match two before Miller dropped Steggell 248-212 in match three to advance to the championship.

Steggell and Hernandez, both of Spokane, finished third and fifth, respectively. Blamires was fourth.

The win put Davidson atop the region’s point list, which earns the top two players a trip to the Resident Pro Championships in Houston later this year.

Davidson collected $2,000 for the win, his seventh career PBA title.
