Mom Accidentally Runs Over Toddler

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Mead mother accidentally ran over her daughter Sunday afternoon, killing the toddler.

Gennie Fray, 21, was backing up her truck in front of her house at Third Avenue and Main Street in Mead, when her 18-month-old daughter bolted out of the house.

Mickala Fray was struck by the right rear corner of the truck. She died of head injuries, according to Washington State Patrol troopers who investigated the accident.

Neighbors ran to help the child. One woman started cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Paramedics continued efforts to revive the child as an ambulance took her to Deaconess Medical Center.

Those efforts failed and doctors at Deaconess declared the child dead on arrival.

Fray was pulling her 1968 Dodge Power Wagon onto the street to turn it around and load a wood stove onto the truck.

Troopers determined the death was accidental. No charges will be filed.
