Injury Sidelines Detmer

Compiled From Wire Services

Colorado quarterback Koy Detmer will sit out the next two games and possibly the rest of the season, depending on whether a knee brace allows him to play, coach Rick Neuheisel said.

Detmer tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the first half against Texas A&M on Saturday.

Neuheisel said doctors will not know until the middle of next week whether Detmer will be able to play with a brace or have to undergo surgery immediately.

“I’m on the record as being out of it,” Neuheisel said. “I’m for letting the doctors and the Detmers decide. I take my hat off to Detmer. He’s a great football player.”

Running back Dou Innocent, who set a Mississippi school record with eight straight 100-yard games, will miss Saturday’s game at No. 3 Florida because of a broken hand.
