Etter Stuns Old Pals Runs By Lewis And Clark Back Too Much For Ex-Teammates

Boy, if this is the way Dealy Etter treats his friends, be sure to stay on his good side.

The Lewis and Clark senior stunned North Central with a 68-yard touchdown run to spark the Tigers to a 27-13 victory in a Greater Spokane League football game Thursday night.

“Oh yeah, I was more nervous than usual,” said Etter, who transferred from NC to LC after his junior football season. “A lot of those guys have been my friends since kindergarten.”

In the first game at the Albi Stadium swimming pool, Post Falls defeated Shadle Park 20-6 in a non-league matchup. The doubleheader, played in a steady downpour, drew 1,870 hearty fans.

Tonight Rogers (0-3) visits league-leading Central Valley (3-0) at 7:30. At Albi, Mead (2-1) plays University (1-1, 1-2) at 5:45 and Gonzaga Prep (2-0, 3-0) plays Ferris (2-1) at 8:30.

If Etter’s second carry of the night, which put LC up 14-3, didn’t break NC’s back, his third did.

After both teams blew good opportunities, LC took over on its 31. Etter took an option pitch around right end for 29 yards. A couple plays later, Paul Mencke hit Matt Stueckle for a 32-yard pass play to the 4 then Mencke scored over left guard.
