Fire Departments Warn Of False Offers
Two fire departments issued a warning Friday that someone is running an unauthorized fire prevention campaign in Kootenai County.
Residents from Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls have reported receiving a telephone call from someone claiming to work for the local fire departments.
The caller then offers the residents a free home preview of a video on fire safety, said Kenny Gabriel, a Coeur d’Alene firefighter.
In Post Falls, the caller offers to do a home fire safety inspection, said Ramona Baker, a spokeswoman for the department.
The caller also says children in the home will receive a free stuffed Dalmatian, Gabriel said.
“We don’t know who’s doing it,” he said, and advised, “Don’t let people into your house that you don’t know.”
