Troops Mark Anniversary Of Iran-Iraq War

Roaring “Death to America” and “Death to Israel,” 30,000 troops staged exercises Friday to cap weeklong celebrations marking the 15th anniversary of the start of the Iran-Iraq war.

Fifty battalions of internal security forces and Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps joined troops from the Basij volunteer force in the Takhti sports stadium in Tehran before the maneuvers, Tehran radio reported.

Thousands of women auxiliaries were among those assembled for the maneuvers, which the radio said would not involve weapons.
