Two Held In Killings Of Men Found In River

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two men who were found floating dead in the Okanogan River on Thursday morning hadn’t been identified late Friday, but authorities had their suspected murderers in custody.

Omak Police Chief Ronald Bailey appealed for information that would help identify the two men. He said no one had been reported missing in the Omak area.

Bailey said he would wait for an autopsy report before giving a description of the victims, who are white, or commenting on how they were killed.

A tip led to the arrest late Thursday night of Scott D. Pierce, 20, of Okanogan, Wash., and Anthony W. Sammons, 25, of Kansas. They were charged with first-degree murder, and remained in the Okanogan County Jail on Friday in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested the suspects at a trailer court south of Okanogan after spotting a van matching the description given by a witness.

Bailey asked anyone with information about the case to call (509) 826-0383.
