15 Die When Boat Capsizes In Haiti

Compiled From Wire Services

A sailboat ferrying about 50 passengers between two Haitian towns capsized in the Caribbean Sea, and at least 15 people drowned, a survivor said.

The survivor, Jeansly Jean-Baptiste, said the sailboat L’Aviron, which operated as a ferry, sank off a remote village in southwestern Haiti last Thursday.

News of the incident was delayed because of poor communications with the remote area, 140 miles west of the capital.
