Peres Visits Oman, Plans Joint Ventures
Marking a new chapter in Israel’s expanding links with the Arab world, Prime Minister Shimon Peres made his first visit to the Arabian peninsula on Monday and declared his country open for Omani business.
The visit was a demonstration for Arabs and Israelis “to build a new Middle East without wars … with economic cooperation,” Peres said.
He announced that the first Israeli-Omani venture would begin “in the near future” with power generation and water desalination projects.
