Northwestern Star Fights Ncaa
Darnell Autry, the star running back who helped lead Northwestern to the Rose Bowl last season, has filed a lawsuit against the NCAA for the right to act in a movie being shot in Europe this summer.
Autry, a Heisman Trophy finalist and sophomore drama student, intends to overturn the NCAA’s ban on athletes appearing in movies.
He has been offered a bit part in an Italian production and is willing to take the job without pay.
Cook County Circuit Judge Lester Foreman has scheduled a hearing on the lawsuit today. The deadline for Autry accepting the part is Saturday.
